SERVANTS OF GOD
A summary of 5 books of the Old
Testament; Joshua, Judges, Ruth and 1 & 2 Samuel. The towel is actually
a Jewish prayer shawl, highlighting the Messianic theme that runs
throughout these 5 books.
The picture is then divided into 5
sections, one for each book and each comprising symbols of strong themes
running throughout each one.
In Joshua, there is the River Jordan,
the wilderness on one side and the promised land on the other. The
footprints illustrate the scripture that is written in the river.
The justice and truth of Judges is
represented by the black and white scales.
In Ruth, there is the field of Boaz,
lined with pearls. Then there is one much larger pearl with the dollar
sign which represents Jesus - the Pearl of Great Price who is pictured in
the person of the Kinsman Redeemer.
In
1 & 2 Samuel, there are symbols of David, the shepherd boy, later
becomingDavid the King; the covenant with David and Jonathan; tears from
the many hard times;and the hill showing the ups and downs of David's
life. The ermine separating the two books is like that found on a royal
crown, again showing David's transition to kinship.
